I've been doing some repair work at the music store the last couple days. Most of it was little jobs, and some more involved - on a variety of guitars. Then I opened the next case, and an old friend was revealed. The first time I worked on this 335 was back in the late 70's. I'd been doing repair a little over a year, I think. Since then, I've installed a couple nuts on it, refretted it twice, touched up the finish, installed new tuners, etc. Who knows how many times I've touched this old axe since the first time?

So today I installed a new Nashville Tune-o-matic and tossed the cruddy old bridge with its peeling chrome and worn-down saddles, scraped some funky green stuff from the frets, cleaned up the nut a bit, restrung it with fresh D'Addarios, and set it up from scratch. It still played like a dream and sounded like a bird! It has much more music inside yet to be released. The owner - an aging jazz and blues guy with decades of gigging here in Wichita, will love it - I'm sure.

I had my pal snap a quick shot of me for giggles, and then it was on to the next guitar.

It's always fun to take an old guitar and tune it up so it plays good again [:Y:]

Somewhere in a box in the garage, I have pix of that guitar way back in the Stone Age.
There should also be pix of me.
I was about 100 pounds lighter then, too...

Nice old guitar there. I hope more people contribute to this section. I'm gonna try. I think more people are just more comfortable posting these type of things in the regular guitar building forum though. Many people don't look at all the sub forums....Mike
